But on a 100 Hz screen, animation remains awful : does it mean that 100 Hz is not exactly 100.24 Hz ? An NTSC C64 on a 60 Hz screen isn't more convincing anyway most of the games I have and find are PAL versions that don't run fine in NTSC. As a consequence, you couldn't display animations of a PAL C64 while retaining the original speed, unless you run the emulator on a screen whose refresh rate is a multiple of 50.12 Hz.
MAC AMIGA EMULATOR INTEL MAC OS
It seems that Mac OS X, like Windows, won't go any lower than 60 Hz even if the monitor allows it, unless a custom screen mode maker is used, which I haven't tried yet (as my hardware is new I am reluctant to venture without a guideline). As the Mac version of Vice doesn't seem to include any synchronization function, I don't even know if it is possible on a Mac.

Now my computer is a new Mac running Mac OS X Tiger, and I'm back trying to display animated C64 screens.
MAC AMIGA EMULATOR INTEL PC
As my PC was maybe too old and running Windows 98, I haven't attempted the impossible. I also like typing on my keyboard and staring at the AMIGA and C= logos on it! Such things remind me that I really use an amiga, not just testing a piece of software, to realize how close it can get to our beloved machine! I really admit that WinUAE is a brilliant application, but, so what?Īnyway, if you insist about its superiority to the real thing. For years, I have been making periodic attempts to get C64 emulators (CCS64 and Vice) on a PC to display animations decently like a real C64, that is without unbearable jumps and jerks, without any success : even a version of Vice that was patched to synchronize the emulated frame rate to the emulator screen's refresh rate (even 100 Hz - that is close to the double of the original 50.12 Hz PAL refresh rate) didn't bring any good result. Remember that NO emulator, no matter how precise it is, can reproduce 100% the capabilities of the emulated hardware!Īnd, yes, I like noisy and slow disk-loading, poor flickering PAL-lace image quality, 8-bit depth workbench, cable salad over my desk, and any limitations due to hardware insufficiency. I think that you're talking about using AmigaOS on intel-based HW, and in that case I totally agree! This is indeed better than using crappy Windoze, anyway.īut AMIGA is not ONLY the software, the miracle was achieved thanks to the very special hardware, even if this nowadays seems obsolete. The list goes on and on and on and on.īutton 5: warp (awesome for getting into the game a couple of seconds after you insert the disk, super loading speed) The only limitation is the PC it's running on!! plug the PC to a TV and play with a gamepad (like I do). get a gamepad for the pc and assign the keys to it. You can make the controller how ever you want, assign keys to wherever or whatever you want. You can have any resolution you want blah blah blah.
You can have any size of Harddrive size, as long as the PC has enough room.
ALL games runs smooth and perfectly, as long as the PC is fast enough. No games runs slow, not even 3d games like Freespace, Alienbreed 3D II, Trapped 2. You can record movies, take pictures, dump memory, built in music ripper etc. You can have 500+mb of memory if your PC has it.
